Identity and scope

About PieceID.

PieceID is an independent educational platform for organizing luxury-item identity claims, observable evidence and unresolved questions before a purchase, sale or collection decision.

Make the next question clearer.

Luxury listings often collapse model identity, condition, provenance and authenticity into one yes-or-no claim. PieceID separates those questions. Its guides show which photographs and records can make a comparison more useful and which unknowns still matter.

PieceID currently covers selected Hermès, Rolex, Chanel and Dior models. Coverage is intentionally model-specific rather than presented as a complete brand archive.

Evidence before verdict.

Observe

Record what is visible

Keep original photographs, locations, dates and the exact seller claim.

Compare

Use the right boundary

Match the claimed model, reference, material, size and relevant period.

PieceID distinguishes direct observations, source-dependent comparisons, unresolved questions and issues that need specialist review. A copied number, plausible stamp or matching-looking detail is never treated as standalone proof.

What PieceID does not do.

  • It does not issue manufacturer certificates or legal guarantees.
  • It does not currently analyze uploaded photographs or calculate authenticity scores.
  • It does not prove ownership, title, provenance or the validity of a seller’s documents.
  • It does not replace a qualified physical inspection when the financial stakes justify one.

Independent, not affiliated.

PieceID is not affiliated with or endorsed by Chanel, Dior, Hermès, Rolex or other brands referenced in its editorial content. Brand names are used to identify the subject of independent educational guides.

Read the editorial policy, privacy statement and evidence glossary for the rules behind the platform.
